to be honest, profilis pl-2303 is the best usb rs323 adaptor
but many manufacture doesn't know how to make adapters good
i was have 3 adaptors with pl-2303 and only one was really working good (which was _base_d on basic diagram from prolific) and it was GV-COM from GeoVision
on a others two i have _b_link__ing on ambilight - thats because of not correct data send speed

hmmm a GV-COM likes a bit overkill and a bit expensive
where can i find a basic diagram for the pl-2303 ??
This controller looks very professional, _link_ maybe i can compare the 2 diagrams

i read on a Dutch forum that "spotnie" has made a usb version but all his recourses are offline
He talks about a RS232 converter from FTDI as well. Diagram

i just have to find a gd one for a nice price

module is powered by 12VDC
there is LM7805 which makes 5VDC for components, except LED's which are 12VDC

is this what You want to know?

I bought the stupid usb rs232 controller of ebay _link_: (_link_), guess what ... the lights flash random colors like hell to bad I guess, an other 20€ in the bin …

I’ve come to far to give up now, so it is back to the drawing board !! I’m working on an usb driven version now I’ll let you know how and when it works

this is the second time writing this (pc crashed).
I need you help: Please

In a nutshell:
- I have tearing
- When i go to full screen with media p_layer_ classic home theater the lights turn off. Seems they don't capture anything.


- I have only one monitor
- I use epilight .NET
- Using Windows 7
- Using Media P_layer_ Classic HT
- I allready played with the settings in epilight. No effect. Still tearing.


Can you guve me your Media p_layer_ settings? What am I doing wrong?

I guess You have installed latest K-Lite 5.3.0 or just latest Media P_layer_ Classic Home Cinema.

If one of these, i'll write why You have that problem.

Since K-Lite code pack 5.2.0 ( download 5.2.0 ) there was oldest version of Media P_layer_ Classic Homecinema and everything was working.

Problem is known and has been discovered few days ago. New EVR surface is initiating the DirectX surface in a different method. It's unable to grab pixels from this DirectX surface by 3rd party programs through these two ways:
- DirectX function called GetFrontBufferData
- .NET function called CopyFromScreen

This mean, both epiLightDX and epiLight.NET are not working.

The only one solution at the moment is to downgrade Your K-Lite codec pack to version 5.2.0 (_link_ above) or downgrade Media P_layer_ Classic. I prefer to downgrade K-Lite...

I'm in contact with author of MPC-HC and hope that we could fix this problem soon.

Some tip for Media P_layer_ Classic users to make video better.

As i know many people doesn't know and they doesn't here about shaders.

If You are a user of Media P_layer_ Classic You should make sure that You have installed latest DirectX SDK:

1. Install it.
2. Run Media P_layer_ Classic
3. Click using right mouse button on a MPC logo and from menu choose Shaders > Combine
4. At bottom of a appered window there is a list, choose filters bellow and push add button on each of them.
- sharpen complex 2
- procamp
- 16-235 > 0-255 [SD][HD]
5. Click on a OK button and close Media P_layer_ Classic
6. Start movie and it should looks much better! If shaders won't load, make sure You have everything ok with a os (upgrade gfx drivers and etc...)

I am still trying. Yesterday i tryed to roll back to that k-lite codec pack. I had the vista codec pack installed. So, at the end of the day, i was in codec hell; everything was pretty messed up. I had different problems:

- The MPC-HC that came with the codec pack was slightly different to the one i installed before. Lights were off in (fullscreen).
- The K-lite MPC-HC had indeed the lights on in fullscreen EVR but: the video was slowed down extreme, like played with 1/2 the speed.

Strange stuff.

I will reinstall my Media PC and retry this week. As graphics adapter supports DXVA and that cpu ain't bad either i am confused why this is so slow. Can you suggest me an order what/which/when to install? (Codecs, P_layer_, epilight etc.)

I guess i'm good now. Momolight & Epilight works perfectly now, even without fullscreen d3d mode.

This is what i did (may not work for everybody else, as they have a different computer setup).

1) fresh new clean win7 installation
2) newest graphics drivers installed (ati for me)
3) installed K-Lite Codec Pack (the one silas posted above) and using that media p_layer_ classic version from that package.
4) run epilight .NET

I think the 3rd point is the most important. After going through so many different setups to get the momolight to work flawlessly this is a good easy way (for me). Personally i think that the combination between ambilight, codec, p_layer_ and os is very fragile. (tearing, stuttering etc..)

Don't give up on this. At the end of the day i got this momolight working so great; that epilight software is way better running than its source app boblight.

in a epiLight.NET, type process name "mpc-hc" in the field which is arround label "Process runned"

Why I decided to do this like that.
So... If You have disabled Aero all the time, program will work fine. But when Aero is enabled it works slower. So I decided to add auto disable Aero composition when some process will be detected (like mp__layer__c - which is MediaP__layer__ Classic - one of the best and simple movie p__layer__).
